CAD and 3D printing

First I tell you if it holds. Then I print it.

I design and print functional parts for people who need one, or a few dozen. When the part has to carry a load, I run finite element analysis on it before it goes to the machine, and I write down the figure it holds to.

How I work

Three steps, and the second one is what changes things

I look at the file.

I open it and check it before I give you a price. Walls under the minimum, fillets that are missing, undercuts that turn into trouble on the machine: if they are there, I write them down for you. Often the part needs changing, and often it is fine as it is.

If it has to hold, I check it.

I build the mesh, apply the load you give me and look at where the stress concentrates. I send you the result with the number, not with an opinion.

I print.

FDM for parts that have to work, resin when you need fine surfaces and detail. I tell you which of the two before I start, and why.

The guarantee

If it gives, I remake it

When I write that a part holds at a given load, that line is a commitment. If it then gives under that load, I redesign it and reprint it at my expense.

It applies to parts I analysed myself and for which I put a working load in writing. It does not cover a use different from the one we agreed. It does not cover a file you asked me to print without a check: in that case I just print, and I tell you so first.

Spare parts

The part you cannot find any more

If the component is out of production and the supplier does not answer, we start from what you have. The broken part will do. Even a single photo with a caliper next to it will do.

I remodel it, and where the break says the original part was weak, I change the geometry instead of copying it.

I do the electrical side too. I design the printed circuit board, write the microcontroller firmware, assemble and test.

The turret beside this text is one single piece of work: printed structure, rack, two servos, wiring. A shop that only does 3D printing hands you the shell and leaves you the rest.

Giacomo Pandolfo. Electrotechnical surveyor, diploma with full marks at Istituto Omnicomprensivo Vallescrivia. I study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Genoa. I have worked freelance since 2024, on mechatronic prototypes.

  • I design in Fusion 360 and Solid Edge.
  • The workshop is in Isola del Cantone, in the province of Genoa.
  • At weekends I volunteer with Civil Protection and with forest fire fighting. It has nothing to do with the parts, but it says how I answer when something goes wrong.

I open the file myself. There is no automatic quoting engine behind this page.

Two lines are enough. If you know the load, write it. If you do not, we work it out together.

I answer you myself, not an automation. The file stays between you and me: I do not show it to anyone and it does not end up in any portfolio unless you tell me it can.
